Abstract

ln the alternating current generators (AC), there two exciting systems that can be used, the first is the generator with separately exciter and another is self exciter (this excitation system used generally). ln this research , these two designs of exciting generator system have been applied in electrical laboratory. The generator is made by Lucas Nulle 1 KW, 380/220 V(Y/A), 50 Hz, 1500 rpm. The first exciting system utilizes autotransformer, one phase full wave rectifier (bridge rectifier) equipment and capacitor filter. The second design utilizes three phase half wave rectifier equipment, resistor variable, and capacitor filter. Based on research, the writer may conclude that first design of exciting system has shown better mechanism than the other exciting system which utilize resistor variable.
