Abstract

In HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Transmission, generator as voltage source usually generate alternating current form. General electrical transmission and distribution system also transmitte alternating current lines. Recent technology of energy transmission, alternating current was built from direct current formed (HVDC). Some topology was made of AC/DC Voltage Source Converter. Beside the function of VSC as HVDC, as output of the VSC is direct current form, this phenomenom can use as source to direct current storage. The parameters of VSC performance were found out. The VSC modul was made and measured to find out the parameters. Then this equipment is implemented as direct current source. Every cycle of the VSC circuit was observed and measured. The suitable cycle have optimal value of direct current voltage. It’s the cycle where all switches was opened where output voltage reached maximum value. Other advantage is keeping output voltage fixed. A VSC have high efficiency compare to other rectifier. In this research, comparation was calculated between VSC againts half wave rectifier with series diodes.
