Abstract

Rain significantly represent input component in hydrology process. Mostly, rain characteristic are intensity, duration and depth. Data of rain available to calculate floods discharge. Floods discharge data are needed to calculate water construction dimension in planning. Plan of rains is calculate by applying frequency distribution analysis such normally distribution, log normally distribution, gumbel distribution, frechet distribution, pearson III distribution, log person III distribution and others. Unequal results occur from each distribution analysis. Therefore, this research is supposed to determine suitable distribution type from rain data statistic parameter results (mean x, standard deviation s, coefficient of vaiation cv, coefficient of skewness cs, coefficient of kurtosis ck). Recomended ferquency distribution results will been tested by using chi quadrat method (chi quadrat suitability test). Based on chi quadrat suitability test results, log pearson III was recommended for the most suitable frequency distribution of catchment area taratak timbulun kabupaten pesisir selatan.
