Abstract

In this research, it was developed a method of compression using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), which produces images with a combination of intensity values which are much simpler in a way only that a subband image decomposition is based subband frequency resolution scale. Approximation subband (LL). Is the output of Low Pass Filter (LPF), which represents the background image, while the details subband (LH, HL and HH) are output from the filter High Pass Filter (HPF), which represents the edge of the image. The process quantization or threshold to obtain uniformity in the value of neighboring pixels. This will generate more value compression ratio which does not significantly reduce image quality. Compression results can be stored or transmitted after going through the process of Huffman coding, and Huffman encoder in the form of the output bit stream data is fed to the QPSK modulator input (Quadrature Phase Shift Keying ). It can added gausian noise to see its effect on the image reconstruction, the image quality of the receive views of the value of PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio), MSE (Mean Square Error), and SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) which was obtained from result simulation. This research is implemented using MATLAB 7.0 with criteria that measure performance test results in the form of a statement of PNSR , MSE and SNR from image reconstruction. In this research using Haar wavelet would provide greater compression of the Daubenchies wavelet orde 4 and Symlet wavelet orde 8, while at the transmission of compressed image will give a compression ratio of 83,333%.
