Abstract

This paper aims to prove theoretically about theory of location in the development of traditional markets. Studies and research on traditional markets development site selection has been done and it will be presented and analyzed so found some factors to consider in selecting the location of the establishment of a traditional market. The writing will begin with the development of location theory put forward by some experts and theoretical basis used in determining the location of development of traditional markets, namely the Market Area location theory propounded by August Losch in 1944. Many expressed writings of some journals will be used as the main reference to describe location theory in the development of traditional markets. One of the things that guide in the selection of the construction site of the traditional markets should be established in crowded locations and spacious. The establishment of the market at a location no trading activity, it is very difficult to expect to be visited by the public. While the number of population, per capita income, income distribution, agglomeration and government policies also affect the determination of the location of an activity.
