Abstract

ABSTRACT The use of Arenga pinnata fruit shell as absorbent material for ion Cr (III), Cr (VI), Cd (II) and Zn (II) has been investigated using batch method. Several variables such as effect of solution of pH, contacting time, concentration of toxic metals solution, stirring time and agitation speed on the absorption capacity of metals ion has been investigated. All metals ion concentration has been measured by using atomic absorption spectrometry. On the other hand the fungsional groups present on the shell was measured using Fourier Transform Infra Red spectroscopy.
